Loris recalled how one of her 6th grade students went wild over her RL Polo cardigan. "Miss Hutchinson. You got on Polo!", he exclaimed and she didn't understand why it was so much excitement over the logo on her sweater. It didn't pass security without being scrutinized either. The guard went into a detailed conversation about the Polo items that he owned. What's the obsession with horses? I guess it's more of a guy thing which makes her a horse of a different gender. Check out her latest thrifted piece, a cable RL turtleneck sweater perfect for layering!
Well, single ladies in Alabama may have to wait a few more weeks for cuffing season to begin. Why? It's too warm outside! Cuffing that special guy to keep you cozy and warm for the winter has been postponed due to rising temps, so you may just have to settle for a pair of thrifted cuffed riding boots instead! Check out what we've trapped!
My mom celebrated her 74th today sitting pretty in mink, lace, along with Betsey Johnson, her right hand girl, at her side! Check her out in her birthday photo shoot, WoW!
It was an all star lineup with names including, Vera Bradley, Fleetwood Mac, Nicki Minaj, Rihanna, Jaclyn Smith, and Michael Jackson...but it was Chuck Taylor who ruled the red tree skirt. Check it out and cast your vote!
High fashion magazines just don't give me the same "fashion high" as in times past. In my younger days, I could get lost in a world of brands that I thought I could never afford, but thanks to my snobby thrift life, a few of those have found their way into my wardrobe. No more wishing, I'm actually wearing them but on occasion, I can get seriously bored and there I go, purchasing fashion magazines once again. Even at the thrifted price of 33 cents each, I still feel as though I'm wasting my money and so very disappointed after flipping through the pages and seeing the same old styles. But, instead of tossing them in the garbage, I decided to do something different. Since that one roll of wrapping paper from the Dollar Tree wasn't nearly enough, I used magazine ads as wrapping paper. Okay, 33 cents for a book of high fashion wrapping paper ain't bad!
Loris and I worked the same row of sweaters last night. Instead of working from each end and moving towards each other, Loris started in the middle and moved outwards. It wasn't long before I was sorting through the same items that she had left behind. When I spotted a fringed jacket, I held it up and asked if she liked it, she said "Yes, but the sleeves have been hemmed.". I cuffed the sleeve to find a loose hem of maybe about 2 inches and in less than 2 minutes, the hem had been removed. I held the jacket up again for her to see and she quickly changed her mind saying "Now, I'll take it!". It was too late. I could already picture it worn with jeans, rugged boots, and a wide Ralph Lauren belt. Loris doesn't like to put any work into thrifted finds, but I don't mind if it's easy. Anyways, she passed up a good deal...but she knows that she can borrow it anytime she likes! So, maybe she actually got the better deal!
Let's go thrifting with this Nappy Model! Based on the outfit that she has selected for the day, she's definitely one to learn from as she weaves in and out of those thrift store aisles carefully choosing the best brands.
Her ensemble includes a fringed poncho from Newport News, Chip& Pepper skinny jeans, Brighton belt, B. Mackowsky crossbody bag, and C. Rowley ankle booties.
Looks like a pro to me!
Loris called me on her way to my place all bubbly, excited about the Christmas holidays, and couldn't wait to show me what she was wearing. In her own words, she stated, "I look like you today!'. Well, I really didn't know what that look could be, jeans with a slouchy sweater, cut off leather shorts with a blazer, or a lace skirt with a denim jacket. I didn't have a clue and I hadn't selected an outfit for myself at that point.
I wanted to wear something simple, layers, pieces that didn't require ironing so I chose Ralph Lauren corduroy leggings, short sleeve sweater dress with back keyhole opening, charcoal swag sweater, and suede ankle booties. I added my multi-strand necklace and I was pleased with my choices.
Loris walked in and it was almost like seeing my own double. She wore a black long sleeve sweater dress with a back keyhole opening, a sleeveless gray mid-length belted cardigan, black fishnet tights, and leather peeptoe Vince Camuto ankle booties.
Like daughter, like mother! Check out the looks below!
I'm taking two pairs of boots to the shoe doctor, Gem's Shoe Repair, in Anniston, Al. These are two recent purchases and I'm hoping that the doctor can make them like new again. The western booties were purchased for $6.99, regular priced $119.00 but are in good condition. Maybe it will only take a little scuff magic and they will be good to go. The Coach wedge was only $1.85 and if the doctor says it has a good chance of survival, that will be good news; especially since the retail price is over $100.00. If he can't save 'em, then what's the proper way to bury them? Garbage can? LOL
Even if it's just a quick peek, I know you look at those passing bikers wearing those Harley boots, leather jackets, rugged jeans, sunglasses...well, I do! Keep your eyes on the road though, but only after you take a quick glance at these thrifted bikers that even the guys will appreciate!
